Al-Ghafur

The One who greatly conceals the sins of His servants, does not punish them, and whose pardon is abundant. Allah Almighty says: "The forgiver of sin, acceptor of repentance, severe in punishment, owner of abundance. There is no deity except Him; to Him is the destination." (Ghafir, 3) "Unquestionably, He is the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver." (Az-Zumar, 5) "[O Muhammad], inform My servants that it is I who am the Forgiving, the Merciful." (Al-Hijr, 49) "Indeed, Allah is Pardoning and Forgiving." (Al-Hajj, 60) Allah forgives His servants not once but many times over — so much so that His forgiving cannot be counted. He does not disgrace His servants in this world or the next; He hides and covers their sins and does not punish them for them. Allah is the One who brings to light what is good and beautiful and conceals what is evil and ugly. Allah conceals it by covering it over in this world and by not giving its punishment in the Hereafter. Allah has covered the human being with three kinds of covering. The first is clothing, which hides the parts of the body that appear shameful. The second is the person's ability to conceal his ideas, thoughts and imaginings within his heart. The third is that Allah has covered and concealed the sins of His servant, turned his sins into good deeds, and given him in the Hereafter a book recording only his good deeds, as if he had never sinned at all. Our Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "If a servant confesses his sin and repents, Allah accepts his repentance. All of my ummah will be forgiven except those who sin openly. Whoever conceals the faults and sins of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults and sins in this world and the next." A reminder: There is none besides Him who forgives the sins of the servants. Whoever repents sincerely is as one who never sinned. What is required of servants is to ask forgiveness for their sins from Allah, whose pardon is so vast, and never to despair of Him. Every Muslim, when he commits a sin, should conceal it from people and never make it public. He should confess his sins to Allah alone and ask forgiveness of Him. Every Muslim who knows this name should conceal the sins of others just as he conceals his own, and should not expose them. He should not forget this verse of Allah Most High: "Would you not like that Allah should forgive you?" (An-Nur, 22)

The noble name Al-Ghafur is recited 1,286 times as "Ya Ghafur, jalla jalaluhu" in order to attain forgiveness, to be pardoned, to be safe from fears, and to extinguish the wrath and anger of those in high position. If the noble name Al-Ghafur is written three times for a patient with fever, the patient recovers by Allah's leave. For gravely ill people whose death is hard upon them, whose tongues are held at the moment of death and who cannot pronounce the testimony of faith, if the noble name Al-Ghafur and the Sayyid al-Istighfar are written, the tongue is loosened at once and death becomes easy. This has been tried and tested. Success comes from Allah Most High.
