Maghrib Prayer
The evening prayer consists of 5 rakats in total: 3 rakats of obligatory (fard) and 2 rakats of sunnah. Unlike other daily prayers, the 3 rakats of obligatory (fard) are performed first, not the sunnah. After the obligatory rakats, the 2 rakats of sunnah are performed.
Prayer Time
The time for the evening prayer begins with sunset and ends with the disappearance of twilight.
Rak'ah Breakdown
Fard: 3 rak'ahs, Sunnah: 2 rak'ahs (Total 5 rak'ahs)
“The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: 'Hasten to perform the two rak'ahs after the obligatory evening prayer, because they will be elevated together with the obligatory prayer.”
Feyzu’l-Kadir
It is recommended to perform the Evvabin prayer, a voluntary prayer, after the Evening Prayer. This prayer can be performed from 2 to 6 rak'ahs.
