Prayer GuideDuha (Morning) Prayer

Duha (Morning) Prayer

The Duha (Morning) prayer begins after the sun rises and has ascended a certain distance, and lasts until the time of the disliked time for the noon prayer, that is, 30-45 minutes before the noon prayer. The prayer performed as a voluntary prayer during this period is the Duha prayer.

How to Perform

1 Steps
  • It is better to perform the Duha prayer by giving a salam (greeting) after every two rak'ahs. However, giving a salam after every four rak'ahs is also appropriate. If it is performed by giving a salam after every four rak'ahs, it is performed like the sunnah of the Asr (afternoon) prayer.
  • The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever performs two rak'ahs of Duha prayer will not be among the heedless. Whoever performs four rak'ahs of Duha prayer will be among those who worship Allah. Whoever performs six rak'ahs of this prayer, it will suffice for him as Duha prayer for that day. Whoever performs eight rak'ahs of this prayer, Allah will accept him as one of those who obey Him. And whoever performs twelve rak'ahs of this Duha prayer, Allah will build him a palace in Paradise."
