Traveler's Prayer

A traveler is someone who leaves their place of residence for any reason and goes to another place. Since travel generally involves hardship, some concessions have been made, such as postponing fasting and performing four-rak'ah obligatory prayers as two rak'ahs. "When you travel in the land, if you fear harm from the disbelievers, then there is no harm in shortening the prayers." (Surah An-Nisa, verse 101)

How to Perform

When you are traveling, the four-rak'ah obligatory prayers are performed as two rak'ahs.
All the sunnah prayers are performed; however, if it is not possible, the sunnah prayers can be omitted.

When a traveler leads residents, the imam gives salutations after two rak'ahs and says, "I am a guest; those who are residents should complete their prayers."
The residents stand up after the imam's salutation and complete the remaining two rak'ahs as if they were behind the imam (without recitation).
