Al-Fattah

The One who opens the doors of good and who judges between matters. Allah Almighty says: "Say: 'Our Lord will bring us together; then He will judge between us in truth. And He is the Knowing Judge.'" (Saba, 26) He is the One who judges between parties, who helps one and brings him to victory, and who opens the doors of goodness and mercy. Those who confuse truth with falsehood through force of arms, verbal acrobatics and crude games of logic, and who are caught in the deadly traps of disbelief — poison within, sugar without — will, if they depart without grasping the truth, find that in the Hereafter our Lord Al-Fattah will separate truth from falsehood. Everyone will then see reality, but by then it will be too late. He is the One who opens the door of provision to the child while it is still in the womb; who, when the child comes into the world and one door closes, opens two doors in the mother's breasts; and who, when those two doors close, opens four doors of food — bitter and sweet, fresh and dry. Every Muslim should believe that there is no Judge besides Allah and should accept no judgement other than His. The Muslim should know that only Allah can open what is closed. He is the One who opens the doors of provision and mercy to His servants; who unravels and opens difficult and locked affairs; who opens hearts and eyes so they may see the truth; who opens hearts and grants relief after distress and hardship; and who easily opens every closed problem that cannot be understood. O you whose heart's locks Allah has opened and upon whom He has poured light from His presence! Just as Allah has opened His doors to you, so too open with the keys of knowledge the closed doors of the ignorant and unlearned, and win over their hearts.

The noble name Al-Fattah is recited 489 times as "Ya Fattah, jalla jalaluhu" so that the doors of good and blessing may be opened. Whoever, after the dawn prayer, places his hand upon his breast and recites the noble name Al-Fattah 71 times, Allah Most High purifies his heart and fills it with light. The one who persists in reciting the noble name Al-Fattah earns his provision with ease, God willing.
