Al-Khafid

The One who brings down, who abases and diminishes in worth. Allah Almighty says: "It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]." (Al-Waqi'ah, 3) Allah is the One who, in this world and the next, raises up His believing servants and abases the disbelievers and hypocrites. Allah brings down whom He wills and raises up whom He wills. The rising and falling, the enrichment and impoverishment of His servants are in Allah's hand. Know that the truly abased one is the person deprived of divine success and help: the one who lives in failure and despair, who is overcome by the desires of his lower self, who sees no good from his Lord, who finds in his heart no strength to turn back to his Lord, and who feels no confidence in his own supplications. Such a person has been rewarded with abandonment; he is always preoccupied and in distress. Our Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Allah Most High raises many nations by this Book and abases many others." He is the One who abases whom He wills in a manner known to His own wisdom, and who in the end certainly subjects the guilty to it. Those who do not know Him, who do not heed His commands and prohibitions, who openly oppose what He has forbidden — the rebellious, the treacherous and the arrogant — are finally brought low because they deserve it. The cause is they themselves; Allah's established law has taken effect concerning them, and they have met with this because of their guilt. A reminder: If a person holds authority, he should give no importance to the ignorant, the idle and the heedless, and should keep them away. He should stop those who oppress the people, commit injustice and sin openly. Likewise he should prevent those who fall into religious innovation, give them no standing and keep them at a distance. If he does not hold authority, he should keep away from those whom Allah has distanced and abased. If he is unable to do even this, he should love those whom Allah has raised and detest those whom Allah has abased — for loving and hating for the sake of Allah is a requirement of faith.

The noble name Al-Khafid is recited 1,481 times as "Ya Khafid, jalla jalaluhu" so that oppressors may be brought low and humbled. Whoever recites the noble name Al-Khafid 500 times, his need is fulfilled at the time of reciting; Almighty Allah accepts what He wills. If someone fasts for three days and on the fourth day, in a single sitting, recites the noble name "Ya Khafid" 70,000 times, Allah, glorified and exalted, protects that person from the evil of his enemy.
