Al-Karim

The Most Generous, Owner of boundless bounty. Allah Almighty says: "Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous." (Al-'Alaq, 3) "O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous?" (Al-Infitar, 6) He is the One who fulfils His word when He promises; who gives in the utmost abundance when He gives; and who pays no heed to how much He has given or to whom. He is not pleased when it is said that anyone is in need of another besides Him. He does not turn away empty-handed the one who takes refuge in Him and gives Him his heart, but immerses him in His mercy. He has him take shelter directly with Him, without leaving him in need of means and intercessors. Allah Almighty is without doubt Al-Karim; His bounty is without limit. The bounty He bestows expects no return. He bestows upon whom He wills and withholds even a dirham from whom He wills — and no one may question Him about this. It is therefore in our own interest always to take refuge in Allah's generosity. Among His acts of generosity is His forgiving His servant when He is about to punish him. May Allah make us among those included in that pardon. A reminder: A person who uses the faculties given to him and who sees and reflects will consider by whom he was created, who gave him the countless blessings he could never obtain on his own, and how he came to possess the capacities of perception, thought and reason. For the person who reflects on these, one single truth emerges: it is Allah, the utterly generous, who brought the human being into existence and bestowed upon him supreme blessings he could never have secured himself.

The noble name Al-Karim is recited 270 times as "Ya Karim, jalla jalaluhu" in order to be delivered from poverty and straitness without hardship. Whoever makes abundant remembrance with the noble name Al-Karim before sleeping, saying "Ya Karim, jalla jalaluhu", finds its result in his heart and his heart is set at ease. He becomes generous, forgiving and beautiful in character.
