Al-Jalil

The Possessor of majesty and grandeur — far removed from anything unbefitting His glory; immense and sublime in His essence and attributes. Allah Almighty says: "And there will remain the Face of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honour." (Ar-Rahman, 27) "Blessed is the name of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honour." (Ar-Rahman, 78) The name Al-Jalil does not occur in the Qur'an in this form but appears twice in Surah Ar-Rahman as Dhul-Jalali wal-Ikram. Majesty and grandeur belong to Allah alone. The knowledge of Allah, who is present and watching in every place and at every time, encompasses all things. Every great one means nothing beside His greatness. Many of the knowers of Allah — those who know Him better than other people — prefer to supplicate Him with these names. The benefit of knowing this name is this: just as Allah does good to you, forgives you and grants you blessings, so too do good to others and give freely. Forgive the mistakes people make. Part gracefully from those who do not abandon their wrongdoing, and repel their evil with good. Do not cut ties with the one who cuts ties with you. Continue to give to the one who does not give to you. Pardon the one who wrongs you. Do not answer the one who slanders and insults you, but be patient. Just as Allah does good to you, do good to others and treat with kindness even the one who does you harm.

The noble name Al-Jalil is recited 73 times as "Ya Jalil, jalla jalaluhu" in order to be delivered from the oppression of tyrants, the guile of enemies, and the insults and contemptuous looks of people, and to become a person held in esteem. Whoever makes remembrance with the noble name Al-Jalil, or writes it with musk and saffron and carries it upon himself, his worth is raised high and his spiritual states become beautiful.
