Al-Mu'min

The Giver of security, the One whose promise can be trusted — who protects creation from injustice and danger; who in the Hereafter secures the believers from punishment; who confirmed the prophets with miracles; who grants faith to hearts, gives safety to those who trust in Him, and bestows relief. Allah Almighty says: "He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him." (Al-Hashr, 23) In brief this means "the one who believes" — but that meaning applies to us, the servants. For Allah, the meaning is the one given above. The name Mu'min is the most distinguished and comprehensive of the servant's names. Allah Almighty loves His servant so much that He has given him a name that belongs to Himself. For the person who bears the qualities of faith in their full sense there is no distress in this world or the next. While crossing the Sirat, the Fire will call out: "Pass, O believer, for your light extinguishes my flame." Such will be the elevated rank of the believer. After Allah brings out of the Fire those believers who were punished on the Day of Resurrection, He says to them: "I am Al-Mu'min and you are the believers." Allah is the One who proves the truth of His word; who does not let His believing servants falter in their faith but brings them to the straight path; who is true to His promise to His servants; who delivers the human heart from doubt and hesitation and brings it to faith; who bestows faith upon hearts; who keeps creation safe from injustice and the believers safe from punishment; who accepts and confirms their testimony; and who always fulfils His undertakings.

To free the tongue from unbelief, lying and backbiting, to be safe from every material and spiritual illness, and for provision to be plentiful and earnings blessed, it is recited 136 times as "Ya Mu'min, jalla jalaluhu", and supplication is made. Whoever recites this noble name 36 times, saying "Ya Mu'min, jalla jalaluhu", his soul, his property and his honour are kept safe from every harm. If a Muslim persists sincerely in this name, saying "Ya Mu'min, jalla jalaluhu", he is kept safe from unbelief, from associating partners with Allah, from lying and from the evil of men and jinn, and he is delivered from every illness.
