Al-Muhaymin

The Watcher and Protector — who sees and watches over all existence, who nurtures each thing and brings it to the point it is destined to reach, and who at every moment sees all creatures. Allah Almighty says: "He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him." (Al-Hashr, 23) He is the One who sees and watches, who witnesses everything, who protects and stands guard. The original form of the word Muhaymin is "Mu'aymin"; for ease of pronunciation the hamza in the word was changed to the letter ha. Such transformations occur in the Arabic language. Muhaymin carries the sense of the one who verifies, confirms and is trustworthy. The Qur'an is a Book that confirms the scriptures that came before it. The physical laws that allow the entire universe to exist in flawless order form the finest evidence of the divine protection that Allah, who brought them into being, extends over His servants. Many features that most people take for granted in fact point to Allah's mercy toward His servants and His divine protection — for there is no compelling reason why the hundreds of physical laws that establish order and unity should exist in precisely the form they now take. Allah is the best of protectors.

Whoever writes the noble name "Al-Muhaymin" and carries it upon himself, all his property and provision are under the protection and safekeeping of the Truth Most High. Whoever performs a full ablution and says a hundred times "Ya Muhaymin, jalla jalaluhu", his outward being becomes bright and luminous. To be safe from the evil of oppressors and of the devils among men and jinn, and to be protected from every trial, affliction and discord, it is recited 145 times as "Ya Muhaymin, jalla jalaluhu", and supplication is made. Whoever persists in reciting "Ya Muhaymin, jalla jalaluhu", Allah Most High removes forgetfulness from him and his memory grows strong.
