Al-Muqit

The Giver of nourishment — who bestows the provision of every created thing; who creates and gives the sustenance of bodies and souls; who has power and who protects. The One who nourishes, feeds, watches over and cares for, who is able, who gives everything its due, the Watcher and Witness. Allah Almighty says: "Whoever intercedes for a good cause will have a share [i.e. reward] therefrom; and whoever intercedes for an evil cause will have a portion [i.e. burden] therefrom. And ever is Allah, over all things, a Keeper." (An-Nisa, 85) He is the One who creates for everyone the nourishment suited to them. Because we know that working and taking up the means is an act of worship, we shall work — and while working we shall seek the pleasure of our Lord. The nourishment suited to us follows us like our own shadow. Those who chased after the shadow died before reaching its end. Let us nourish our stomachs with lawful and pure food, our minds with the sciences of the sacred law and of nature, and our hearts with the love of Allah. A reminder: The Muslim should know that there is none besides Allah who meets the needs of the servants, arranges and conducts their affairs, and gives them nourishment and provision — and that the highest provision is the blessing of reason. The Muslim should strive, as far as he is able, to meet the needs of people in want, making no distinction between near and far or strong and weak. He should give preference first to his relatives, and failing that turn to others. Our Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "It is sin enough for a person to withhold from one who asks for sustenance."

The noble name Al-Muqit is recited 550 times as "Ya Muqit, jalla jalaluhu" for provision to be plentiful, for independence from others, and for blessing. If someone who has an ill-natured child recites the noble name Al-Muqit seven times over an empty vessel, saying "Ya Muqit, jalla jalaluhu", then fills that vessel with water and gives it to that ill-natured child to drink, by Allah's leave the child's nature becomes good. If a fasting person recites the noble name Al-Muqit seven times over earth, moistens that earth with clean water and smells it, Allah Most High grants him strength and power. Whoever recites this noble name 550 times, saying "Ya Muqit, jalla jalaluhu", blessing appears in his property.
