Al-Hasib

The Reckoner — who suffices His servants and calls them to account; who knows the reckoning of everyone's deeds; who brings them to account in the Hereafter; who gives punishment and reward; and who suffices and helps those servants who place their trust in Him. Allah Almighty says: "...And sufficient is Allah as Accountant." (An-Nisa, 6) "...Indeed Allah is ever, over all things, an Accountant." (An-Nisa, 86) "...And He is the swiftest of accountants." (Al-An'am, 62) "...And Allah is swift in account." (Al-Baqarah, 202) In the Hereafter people must pass through a reckoning in order to receive the recompense of what they did. It is Allah who will carry out this reckoning without the least omission. His reckoning is swift; He will settle the accounts of all creation in a single moment. For the one whose faith is strong the reckoning will be as easy as the blink of an eye, while for the one whose faith is weak it will take very long. Many meanings have been mentioned for this name: the One who knows the parts along with the whole; who knows without calculating; who possesses all lofty qualities; who has no deficiency or fault; and who on the Day of Resurrection will call His servants to account and question them. He is the One who gives abundantly out of His own generosity. Everyone should strive to save themselves from a heavy reckoning, should take care with the bounds Allah has set, and — so that their account in the Hereafter may be light — should call themselves to account and correct their errors while still in this world.

The noble name Al-Hasib is recited 80 times as "Ya Hasib, jalla jalaluhu" in order to be protected from the evil of an enemy, to be delivered from difficulty in earning a livelihood, to attain divine bounty, and to be safe from what one fears. Whoever recites the noble name Al-Hasib 77 or 99 times before sunrise in the form "Hasbiya'l-Hasib" is kept safe from wild beasts. When a quarrel arises among relatives or other people, whoever fears some trouble, if he recites the noble name Al-Hasib seventy-seven times each day before sunrise and after sunset for a whole week, saying "Ya Hasib, jalla jalaluhu", Allah Most High keeps him safe from every evil. The starting day must be a Thursday.
