Al-Wali

The Governor, who directs all beings. Within the content of the name Al-Wali lies the exercise of all the names related to what comes into being in the world. Al-Wali means the One who takes upon Himself all the affairs of beings. The verse in the Noble Word, "Every day He is bringing about a matter" (Ar-Rahman, 29), indicates this. His governance is according to a plan. He wrongs no one, injures no one and brings no one to tears. His governing is by His own power. His governorship is absolute and not bound by any condition. He alone is the One who sets the affairs of creation in order and directs them as they should be directed. Without doubt the Governor of all affairs is Allah. He first ordained those affairs, secondly brought them out into the field of realisation, and thirdly caused them to continue and kept them under His governance. For servants, Al-Wali is realised in the form of accepting Allah's guardianship in one's own affairs and in the affairs of others.
