Al-Wasi

The One whose knowledge and mercy encompass all things. "...And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing." (Al-Baqarah, 247) "Satan threatens you with poverty and orders you to immorality, while Allah promises you forgiveness from Him and bounty. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing." (Al-Baqarah, 268) "Your god is only Allah, except for whom there is no deity. He has encompassed all things in knowledge." (Ta-Ha, 98) This name occurs in many places in the Noble Qur'an. Allah informs us in the Qur'an that He is "Lord of the heavens and the earth." He tells us that He is also the One who possesses all vastness. Allah's dominion is vast. His blessings are inexhaustible, His mercy has no limit, and His forgiveness too is exceedingly vast. The mercy and compassion of Allah, who meets all the needs of His servants without their doing anything, is infinite. The attribute Al-Wasi' is manifested with particular intensity upon the believers. As stated above, Allah's mercy and compassion are exceedingly vast. He has enveloped His believing servants in His mercy and protects them in this world from all enemies. Allah's attributes and qualities are many and vast. He encompasses everything that exists. For this reason no one can praise and extol Him as He deserves; He is only as He has praised Himself. His exaltedness, His authority, His dominion, His bounty and generosity, His goodness and beneficence, His munificence and nobility are all exceedingly vast. His existence encompasses all times, indeed even what is before and after time — for He is without beginning and without end. His knowledge encompasses all knowledge; one item of knowledge does not prevent Him from attending to others. His power is above all powers; no power occupies Him away from another. No state can prevent Him from attending to another state. His hearing is vast enough to encompass every sound that is heard; no sound or supplication prevents Him from hearing other sounds and supplications. His helping one who is in distress does not cause Him to neglect others or to delay His help.

The noble name Al-Wasi' is recited 137 times as "Ya Wasi', jalla jalaluhu" for provision to be plentiful, for a long life, for blessing not to diminish in one's home, and for inward ease. Whoever makes abundant remembrance with the noble name Al-Wasi', saying "Ya Wasi', jalla jalaluhu", becomes rich. His breast is expanded, he is kept safe from greed and confusion, and Almighty Allah grants him ways out of his difficulties.
