Ar-Rashid

"The Guide to the right course, who brings every matter to its ordained end."

Meaning

The Guide to the Right Path. Allah Almighty says: "Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance." (Al-Kahf, 10) "He whom Allah guides is the [rightly] guided; but he whom He leaves astray — never will you find for him a protecting guide." (Al-Kahf, 17) "And indeed, Allah is the Guide of those who have believed to a straight path." (Al-Hajj, 54) The benefits of knowing this name: Every Muslim must know that the absolute Guide and Possessor of rightness for all beings is Allah. It is He who leads people to the right path and who shows the benefits by which their existence and their lives come into order. This is not a matter peculiar to human beings; it embraces all beings and all living things. Everything that exists in the heavens and the earth operates according to the right plan and programme He has drawn. Order, rightness and guidance are from Him. This is the straight religion in which there is no crookedness. Every Muslim who believes in such a religion should do what his Lord commands him and avoid what He forbids. Every Muslim should show Allah's servants the right path and call them to abandon all the customs and behaviours that are incompatible with Islam, that keep them from obeying and worshipping Allah, and that cause them to disobey Allah and His Messenger and to violate His commands and prohibitions. If the Muslim adorns himself with these qualities and comes to possess them, he is called rightly guided in Allah's sight and earns great reward.
