Al-Ba'ith

The One who gives life after death — who raises the dead after death and brings them out of their graves; who sends prophets. The sending of prophets is also a kind of resurrection, for the prophets revive with the light of Islam those societies whose spiritual life has died. Allah Almighty says: "Then We revived you after your death that perhaps you would be grateful." (Al-Baqarah, 56) "Only those who hear will respond. But the dead — Allah will resurrect them; then to Him they will be returned." (Al-An'am, 36) "He brings the living out of the dead and brings the dead out of the living and brings to life the earth after its lifelessness. And thus will you be brought out." (Ar-Rum, 19) Resurrection after death is called "ba'th ba'd al-mawt." It is one of the six articles of faith in Islam. Every Muslim must know that Allah will raise the dead on the Day of Resurrection, give them life anew and create them again. Allah Most High informs us in Surah Ya-Sin of the attitudes of the deniers and the believers before the resurrection: "They will say, 'O woe to us! Who has raised us up from our sleeping place?' [The reply will be], 'This is what the Most Merciful had promised, and the messengers told the truth.'" (Ya-Sin, 52) Without doubt Allah will give life to all the dead on the Day of Resurrection, will raise those in the graves, and will question them about what they did. When we look around us, we witness that every autumn all of nature undergoes a kind of "death." This "death" continues throughout the winter season. But when spring comes we see that on the bone-dry branches of the trees colourful blossoms and green leaves appear once more; we notice all of nature reviving and turning green. What is more, this "resurrection after death" has continued for thousands of years without a single failure. A reminder: Once the servant learns this name of Allah, he should strive to acquire the knowledge and learning that constitute true life, in order to save himself and his family from ignorance. Thus his heart comes alive with certainty, his tongue with remembrance, and his limbs with righteous deeds. In His mighty Book, Allah likens those who possess knowledge and those who do not to the living and the dead: "And is one who was dead and We gave him life and made for him light by which to walk among the people like one who is in darkness, never to emerge therefrom?" Without doubt, to rescue someone from ignorance and make them a person of knowledge is to give them life anew and to bring them to a better life. Everyone who benefits people with his knowledge and calls them to Allah has some share, however small, in this kind of giving of life — though this is a rank attained by the prophets and by the scholars who are their true heirs.

The noble name Al-Ba'ith is recited 573 times as "Ya Ba'ith, jalla jalaluhu" for customers to increase and trade to grow. If someone, when about to sleep, places his hand upon his breast and recites this noble name 101 times, saying "Ya Ba'ith, jalla jalaluhu", Allah (Mighty and Majestic) fills that person's heart with light and grants him knowledge and wisdom.
