Al-Jabbar

The One who accomplishes what He wills by compelling, who has the power to compel anyone absolutely and unconditionally, and whom no one can compel. Allah Almighty says: "He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him." (Al-Hashr, 23) Allah is the One who decrees. Whatever He says comes to pass and His will is fulfilled. In a sacred hadith He says: "O My servant, you will and I will; but what you will does not come to pass — what I will comes to pass." Although Allah Most High has granted the human being will in many of his acts and created him free, He is not obliged to fulfil all his wishes. If He wills, He removes their will in an instant. As a hadith states: "When Allah Most High wishes to bring His decree to pass, He takes away the reason of those who possess it so that His decree may be fulfilled through them. When His command has been carried out, He returns their reason to them, and then regret begins." If He wills, He may leave their reason and will intact and yet enforce His own decree and will upon them against their wishes. Thus the rebellious, who do not fear Allah and wish to oppose His commands, are compelled to bear their punishment when the time comes, however unwilling they may be. In short, nothing can be conceived that would not be overcome and compelled beneath the absolute will of Allah Most High. O Allah, the Compeller! I marvel at anyone who knows You and yet seeks help from another for any matter. I marvel at anyone who knows You and yet turns to someone other than You.

The noble name Al-Jabbar is recited 206 times as "Ya Jabbar, jalla jalaluhu" in order to appear dignified and comely in the eyes of people, to be respected everywhere, for one's words to be accepted, and for the destruction of oppressors. Whoever persists in this name is protected from oppression. If it is recited 21 times morning and evening after the Musabba'at al-Ashara, one is protected from every kind of enemy.
