Al-Mu'id

The One who revives after death. Allah Almighty says: "So observe the effects of the mercy of Allah — how He gives life to the earth after its lifelessness. Indeed, that [same one] will give life to the dead, and He is over all things competent." (Ar-Rum, 50) "And of His signs is that you see the earth stilled, but when We send down upon it rain, it quivers and grows. Indeed, He who has given it life is the Giver of Life to the dead. Indeed, He is over all things competent." (Fussilat, 39) "How can you disbelieve in Allah when you were lifeless and He brought you to life; then He will cause you to die, then He will bring you [back] to life, and then to Him you will be returned." (Al-Baqarah, 28) The One who revives beings after their death, restores their souls and creates them anew. The second creation is not a creation in some other form. A thing that existed and then perished will be created not differently but exactly as it was. As a person is in this world, so will he be on the Day of Resurrection. Every Muslim should know that Allah is the One who creates for the first time and who creates a second time in the Hereafter. He is the One who will create them again after they have passed away. His creating again is not out of any need but is a demonstration of His power as wisdom requires. The matter does not end there; there is more beyond it. After causing you to die He revives you and will revive you. He gives and will give you a life like the one He gave you before — indeed, higher than it. Resurrection after death is also true. Do you not see that what has happened happens again? Were it not so, you would see no law in the universe. You could not do a second time what you had done once. You would have no share in knowledge or in craft. It is by this that whatever you know well you can do again and again. By this you sow your seeds, plough your fields and gather your harvest.

The noble name Al-Mu'id is recited 124 times as "Ya Mu'id, jalla jalaluhu" for the return of material and spiritual blessings that have slipped away, and for a ruined affair to be set right. If the noble name Al-Mu'id is recited 70 times towards the four sides of the house for seven days, saying "Ya Mu'id, jalla jalaluhu", what has been lost returns safely to the place it left. If someone from a person's household tarries on a journey and he wishes for news of him, then after those in the house have gone to sleep he should breathe the noble name Al-Mu'id seventy times towards the four sides of his house, saying "Ya Mu'id, jalla jalaluhu", and supplicate: "O Mu'id, return so-and-so to me, or send me news of him." It is hoped that before long either that lost or delayed person himself or news of him will arrive.
