Al-Muqtadir

The Omnipotent — whose authority and power are infinite and who is able to do all things. Allah Almighty says: "And ever is Allah, over all things, Perfect in Ability." (Al-Kahf, 45) "And We seized them with a seizure of one Exalted in Might and Perfect in Ability." (Al-Qamar, 42) "Is not that [Creator] Able to give life to the dead?" (Al-Qiyamah, 40) Al-Muqtadir is the One who manifests and displays His power through His acts. There are many acts Allah does not perform though He has the power to do them; if He willed, He could do them. He is the One who does what He wills; no one can prevent Him, and no power can render Him incapable. He is the One whose power encompasses all things. The servant should hope for blessing from One so powerful and should fear His retribution. Allah Almighty has given strength and power to the servants He created. But their strength and power depend upon Allah's eternal power. If Allah grants power to His servant, he can do many things and overcome difficulties. Therefore one should implore Allah, the Giver of all strength and power, and ask Him for strength in the path of truth and faith.

The noble name Al-Muqtadir is recited 744 times as "Ya Muqtadir, jalla jalaluhu" for the destruction of oppressors. Whoever recites the noble name Al-Muqtadir immediately upon waking, saying "Ya Muqtadir, jalla jalaluhu", Allah Most High sets his affairs on their proper course and arranges them for him.
